The East India Company was not Oxford, it was there to make money. Through the might of the growing British seafaring merchant navy and also supported by the Royal Navy it took over more and more of the commerce of the East. What really got it going was the fact that it seized the shipping of the Mogolempa. In a very short time between about 1750 and 1800 this corporation seized the richest country in the world and shipped its money home.
