partitioning most often you need to adjust application. I'm actually not sure all productions are lagging so I don't have a good example of large system running on post-vis 15 that they can touch with partitioning. planning time is maybe a concern definitely I've seen. about the io overhead of moving people backwards and forwards and backwards again but of course for the one direction it makes makes a lot of sense. If some query doesn't have partitioning key in in where clause for example means that probably it will need to scan all partitions in some cases, he says.
