The problem with everything is that we're ultimately lonely. Humans are are lonelier than ever, and they are craving affiliation. They want to feel like they have a uniform, they belong to a group. And this has become the best way to do it,. To alline yourself with an ideology a is to really feel less alone in the world. It eclipses any kind of cognitive dissonance about what that doctrine is actually representing.
