We have a generation that is being driven by a need for significance, birthed out of insecurity rather than a passion just to be faithful and obedient above all else. Insecurity is needing something other than Jesus to feel secure. And when it's not just Jesus, then it will push you to short term fruit. This is why comparison is such a killer. There's a sense of entitlement that creeps in if this isn't your goal. I can tell you the older I get and I still preach vision here and there, but in my 20s and 30s,. it was just all vision preaching.
