The Sign of the Cross

Professor R. Scott Clark responds to emails about the sign of the cross. He says there is no single Catholic tradition that uses it, but Protestants and Lutherans do. The Reformed were very hostile to this practice in the 16th and 17th century because they thought it was superstitious. If you are attaching some sort of priestly magic to it, well, then definitely don't do it, he says.
