How we think about ourselves now as Christian should be tied to when Jesus returns and all things are made new. The Bible repeatedly refers to the self as something that will burst out into its full blossom come the spring of the eschaton. Even a perfectly healthy looking body today will seem like it was massively limited and impaired compared to what our resurrection bodies will be. And this is not to minimize the real hardship that people experience when it pertains to human frailty.
