Is There Evidence of Sodomy in the Bridewak?
Sodomy is never used in the bridewak, i'm pretty sure it is there somewhere. Usually it's denounced as kind of like the detestable vice of something like that. Sometimes someone is accused of a deed not meet to be written. We don't know what that deed was, but it might well have been homosexual act. Of course, we get cases of women lying together, maid servants sharing a bed. And, you know, we mustn't think that this is obviously or necessarily sexual, nor that it wasn't particularly we don't really know. Valerie traub is the wonderful critic who's written best about that. It's fascinating.
