Your Income Is Your Responsibility

I think the most dangerous thing about staying at a job for too long is you build such strong relationships with people that you do feel such an immense amount of obligation and guilt if you're considering leaving. I actually cried when I left my University of Alberta job, even that one was hard to leave. You do have to be brave. Your income is your responsibility. And it's the best way to take care of yourself. Do pursue it aggressively and with no loyalty to anyone else.
