Averuis and the Emir of Cordoba

Averuis was the chief judge of Cordoba. He met al-Muhad ruler Abu Yaqub Yusuf, who asked him a provocative question about the heavens. Averuis responded by writing five line-by-line commentaries on Aristotle's major works. His writings were so sophisticated that no one in his social rank could make much use of them.
