The Gray Zone Between Life and Death

Life is really the absence of death that you know for something to be alive it has to not be dead or even have the potential of being dead. There are these little animals called tardigrades. If they get dried out they don't die the way we would die. They're basically their bodies turn to a kind of protein glass. And if you they can be in that state for decades maybe centuries and you can throw them in water and they will start to function again. It challenges our ideas that we have that there's a simple way to explain life.
