In 1968, computer scientists were invited to speak at a conference in San Francisco. The conventional way of sharing your work would be to deliver a lecture. Stuart Brand was also in the middle of producing a multimedia art installation called War God. It employed two Kodak slide projectors, a 16mm projector and a stereo tape recorder for an hour-long presentation that never repeated itself.
