The Middle Yellow River, the Heart of China's First States
Burials in late longshan society show us the starkest possible evidence of that kind of son. Rulers needed places from which to rule, and elsewhere in late neolithic china, they had them. These places were thick on the ground along the middle yellow river, the lower yellow river and along the yangsee. This was home to the later site of erlitu, traditionally identified with the legendary jia dynasty. It was also the heartland of the later shang dynasty,.
