Bringing Buddhism to the therapist’s couch
Life Examined
You're Not Who You Think You Are, Mark, You Know
The author talks about how we cling to the stories we have about ourselves. How those stories can constrict us, or restrict us, or imprison us in and regitify us. She says that even a psychotherapist doesn't really know who you are - but they can feel your defences. The job of the therapist is to get around the edge of that and make the reflective awareness of the patient alie with that task.
