Education and Outreach in Data Science?

A lot of people, i think, there's a perceived barrier to entry for data science. What are the roles of education and outreach in making data science as accessible as possible? When you start in data sense, you will need to learn things. So i guess that's why education is so important. But what's important is to really empor people with the belief that if bat were able to to learn this things, do not tell them - go and educate yourselvs.
