A lot of people start off as engineers and then they're moved laterally or promoted into management. And I found that there wasn't, you know, especially when that happened for me, which was like a decade ago, that I didn't have any of the skillset necessary for that job. "I love that people are not pure functions because it's so hard to get that out of life," he says.
