The Role of Troponins in SVT
The diagnosis of SVT only requires an ECG. Chest pain is a common symptom of SVT, but this is very unlikely to be from underlying coronary artery disease. Most of the troponin's in patients with SVT correlate with the max heart rate and ST depression during the SVT. Eponin elevation in SVT is not from a type 1MI from plaque rupture, which requires revascularization; rather type 2 from demand ischemia.
