We Were Colonized by the English, Right?

i would hear this quite often, link, we were colonized by de english. And i was just like, okrigtawer yo andand tis is an argument i hear a lot in many news rooms. I'm like, you guys are two colonizers and you lost. That's what happened. But people are so stubborn about it, and they really think that they've been colonized by the english. It always feels like there's collateral damage in making these rhetorical arguments.
