The Frosker and Nesi
Harkes could see Frosker guards mounted on their spiny fish defending another huge turtle as children were loaded on. A swarm of dross had crept up on the three friends and now lunged forward, separating them from the Frosker. One leapt onto Nesi, its arm a mass of brambles that tangled in her hair. Harkes grabbed the creature, her burning hand setting it on fire. Nezzy shouted behind her, for orlom! And there was a clash of steel on wood. The elven prison cart had been knocked loose by one of the pitworms. It started sinking slowly, the heavy iron bars pulling it into the muddy river bottom
