Since November 2020, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has recovered nearly four tons of cocaine on the islands. That amount of cocaine would have a street value higher than the territory's annual GDP. A former senior British official explained how this fits into the bigger picture. The cartels bring coke by ship or plane. They drop big loads of it on or near an uninhabited island. Locals who might otherwise be in the fishing business put them in the kind of boat that Eddie sees and carry them lickety split to the US Virgin Islands en route to Puerto Rico, Florida, New York.
