Ethical Robots in Warfare
Ethics in warfare always get murky too, but there was another nice article by Ronald Arkin titled Ethical Robots in Warfare. In it he lists a number of common arguments and concerns about use of wartime robots. Like everyone else I can see the many advantages and also get a queasy feeling at the thought too. Incidentally we are not yet at the point that an AI controller drone represents a powerful threat to a normal soldier,. That time will certainly come and then rapidly outclass us - for now the big advantage of drones is they are expendable and cheap and reasonably covert. This episode is not meant as an advocacy piece for or against using war robots.
