Avatar XPRIZE - Science Fiction and Science Fiction

Alan Boyle: I recently re-watched the avatar movie and I was surprised how similar some of the things they were talking about in their work to the work that we were doing. So this avatar could be out somewhere doing some dangerous work and get completely smushed by a boulder or something and then whoever's using it is completely fine. You still get that skill transfer, which robotics AI isn't quite there and can't really compete with the human brain yet. For doctors, you would probably want to use such a tele-prancing system to do complex surgeries for patients in different places. It sounds as if the avatar movie wasn't that far off the right track.
