How to Request Peer Review at Facebook
The way it works is that you write your own version of how you think like you performed. And so, it's usually a pretty long essay that's focused on three or four different axes. One is engineering excellence. One is perhaps about community, like how you contribute to the culture of the team and of the company. And one, and how, whether or not you mentor people, right? The manager then reads and summarizes and decides if you get a promotion or not.
