The Evolution of Fire
Tony Harwood is a land and fire manager with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribe. He says there's a word in the Salish andKootenai languages that means keeper of fire. Tribal elders would talk about if they had a good fall buffalo hunt, after the hunt was completed, the natives would set fire to their hunting ground. And they were essentially leaving fire as a gift spiritually to the animal.
