Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's ties with Russia, Iran and the Gulf states are unlikely to change. Damascus has refused to compromise on any of those questions for years. The main incentive that Damascus might have is an economic one - but at the same time, it's difficult to invest with US sanctions. But I see at least a talk in terms of Iran. And having a direct diplomatic relation does not mean we have resolved all regional issues.
