After World War I, the crisis of what is going to later be called PTSD, post-traumatic stress disorder. They didn't have a name for it. In fact, they looked at it in World War I as cowardliness. And can you imagine being a soldier in a trench when you're being hit by over a million shells in a 24-hour period? There was a mental meltdown. If you ever ran from the trench, you were a coward and you'd be shot.
