What's the Virtue of Listening?

The book starts with a famous metaphor from kenneth burke about an unending conversation. Berke says, thyou cind of make your own argumentbu but then the conversationis going on so long that you need to leave. So many ritting instructors use that metaphor to help students think about the academic life and the writing life.
