Is Reductionism a Second Class Citizen?
Reductionism is the idea of trying to explain things by reducing them. But it's not true that emergent phenomena are second class citizens, says Wry. The most obvious example of this is a computational universality. This allows you to talk about programmes and logic without reference to any physics at all. Because it's an emergent phenomenon.
