In 1955, average personal income was around $3,300 in the US. That's if you just for inflation, that's $32,000 today. But today in 2020, it's $54,000. Now, of course, that's average is pulled up by people on the high end. The median doesn't show that large of a difference. There's only so much pulling they can do.
