The History of the Extra Canonical Texts
These texts were used for a very long time until the canon was quote unquote standardized, right? Until it finally landed on the thing, which was to be completely honest, right around when the printing press came into being. People were still reading all these other texts, but then once the Bible was mass produced and it was a King James version, these other ones weren't as sticky. And so again, we see a shedding of text even before we get to the 16th century. So that's what the extra canonical texts are. Some people call them Gnostic. You don't really use the term Gnostic anymore because we have learned that that is not a name that they used at
