There was some tentative good news yesterday with early data looking into hospitalizations after infection with omicron. And what that suggested was that omicron may be inherently milder, but probably not a massive amount. If you're one of those incredibly rare who has not been infected by covid and has not had any covid vaccines,. i think these must be a fraction of the population, tiny fraction. Their estimate is that your risk of being hospitalized with omacron is probably about 11 % lower than your risk ofBeing hospitalized with delta.
Yesterday, daily cases in the UK exceeded 100,000 for the first time since the pandemic began. Despite this, the government has stuck to its guns in refusing to introduce any restrictions in England before Christmas Day. Yesterday also saw the publishing of a report from a team at Imperial College London that suggests, in the UK, the risk of a hospital stay is 40% lower with Omicron than Delta.
