The fact that he would even verbalize to another person about his thoughts on suicide are very obviously, it's 20 20 hind sight. When she finally does decide to come to the party and he sees her there, he doesn't actually spend much time with her at all. And you just wonder if this was really significant. If initially when he wanted her to come over, it was to talk him out of whatever he was thinking about doing. But by the time she got there, had he decided, no, i don't want to talk to her because she will talk me out of it, and i'm sort of committed, and i don't wants to be talked out of it?
