Theodosia met Joseph Alston during the presidential campaign of 1800 actually. Burr was using Alston as kind of a middleman to convey information from the North to the Republicans in the South. Theodosia had this air about her that like, I know how great I am, but not annoying. And she also says that she was never put off by her lack of skill in the womanly arts.
