The stare signals a sort of resistance to hate and being other as an Asian American, something I was experiencing as recently as the pandemic. There's something about how Bruce epitomized the Asian gaze, a certain kind of gaze you don't see in any kind of cinematic image prior to his coming to America, to Hollywood. And we see it in the show, the need for Chinese Americans in San Francisco's Chinatown to rise up against the oppressors. It reminds me of something Jeff Yang mentioned, how Bruce Lee and his gaze and how Andrew Koji seems to be channeling it for warrior.
