The Unorthodox Traditions of Philosophy in India

The discussion of Rasa took its initial cue from Mahima Bhatta and was sustained for an extraordinarily long time. As that discussion developed, it became increasingly sophisticated in philosophical terms. The later authors continued to take the Nachashastra as their touchstone text, but connected it to ideals of detachment and liberation. Some other philosophers were not so impressed by the theories put forth by the Vedic schools.
