Psychoanalysis Studies the Experience of Lack
Psychoanalysis is a study of lack as the cause of this human experience that we all endure. Just because you lack something doesn't mean it's the cause of your desire. The job of the advertiser is to manufacture the experience of lack. So when I say check out my fly pen, what I am implicitly also saying is don't look at the plants behind me and wonder if indeed it is a picture of me with my grandmother.
