The arterial line system has to be appropriately zeroed and leveled. The terms zero and leveled are occasionally used interchangeably, but they're not exactly the same thing. For every 10 centimeter change from the axis of level, or the axis that you're trying to measure, the art line will change about 7.4 millimeters of mercury. This can be estimated about 1 millimeter of mercury per centimeter.
