The Son of God in the Ancient World
There are different traditions about what it means to be a son of God in the ancient world. In Jewish thinking, being the son of God did not mean that you were divine by nature. For humans, it didn't mean you pre-existed your birth. And so we're in a special father-son relationship. You're still human, but God has made you the one that he's going to work through.
