The Importance of Culture in Political Transformation
I think culture in that sense is a really important site of politics and so while the electoral insurgencies of organizations like DSA are one important prong of taking back the city I think there's also a sort of less formal but more directly lived version. That dance music culture of the 70s was like the East Coast version and continuation of the 1960s counterculture. It was an urban and a New York version.
