Nintendo magic or whatever it is comes from Japanese poetry Chinese poetry actually the idea of what's known as Kisho Tenketsu which is like introduction elaboration the twist and the conclusion. When you read Japanese manga they do four panels in America it's three panels right because in the US we have three-act storiesyou know introduction the action and then the conclusionright? So when you're playing a Mario game think about that look for that part that twist where it suddenly asks you to do I wish I had a specific example to talk about but they've talked about how they design levels in the four act structure.
