How Do You Write in the Voice of a Teenage Boy?

I wondered how you got into the frame of mind to write as a teenage boy about those huge feelings. It's funny because in my previous novel, A Tale for the Time Being, I was writing in the voice of a teenage girl right now, Yasutani. And yet, I can't really tell you where that comes from. They come to me as voices. You know, I mean, they're internal voices. ... Voices like Benny's voice or now his voice, they're very clear. And I hear them speaking and I write them down.
