What Is a Cultural Group?

A lot of social psychologists like to talk about distinct cultures when explaining variation in individualism or collectivism. And demographic cultures is a term I use just to pick out this way in which these psychologists use cultures as this sort of comparative notion. So there's a range of options and a range of different ontologies both for cultural groups and for cultures themselves that creates this real menu of possibilities for empirical researchers and and policymakers in contemporary society. It's not a bankrupt empirical notion it's a really fruitful one.
