The Son of David

Matthew 22 verse 42: "How then doth David in spirit call him Lord saying, The Lord said unto my Lord, sit thou on my right hand till I make thine enemies thy footstool" Jesus is quoting Psalm 110 to support the argument that the Messiah is more than just a human king descended from David. He's also divine and he's been appointed by God. Three times in the New Testament, this scripture, Psalm 110, is quoted to show that Jesus who was a descendant of David was also the Lord,. meaning Jehovah, whom David worshiped.
