Death is cynicopated as a release from all suffering and the boundary beyond which our ills cannot pass. Life contains many opportunities for enjoyment he contains of which he is about to be robbed. The stoic ideal holds at the sage the man we should seek to emulate, who finds it a joy to live despite facing death with dignity when the time comes.
This is a new audio recording of an article I published on Medium about the Stoic contemplation of death. The photo shows me outside the ruined Temple of Hades at the ancient site of Eleusis near Athens.
