What Is an Index Fund?

An ETF is a basket of investments. You can buy a whole basket of companies with one single transaction and you're just paying one management fee, one brokerage fee. An index fund is just a fund like where we put all of our money together and it tracks an index. The important part to understand is that an index fund does not have to be anETF.
