The Soviet Dream of Workers Controlling Their Lives
Stalin had no choice but to make peace with the West after World War II. Khrushchev was able to take power by getting Zukov on his side against Beria. And in that time, he was making feelers to fully transform the Soviet Union into a capitalist economy. The only thing left is some simulacrum of the consumer experience they were certainly aware existed in the West.
