The Disadvantages of Lutheran Theology
Simian: What if I feel absolutely abandoned by God? Does that mean here is where the spirit isn't? And if that's not the case, what does that mean to me in my abandonmentness to then have to be able to find the spirit of God there? If you'll pardon me for saying so, ouch. The way of doing theology subcontrario is not a particularly Lutheran thing. You can find it with Augustine or mysticism and medieval monasticism. It's a way of trying to get at the kind of paradox about passivity and activity.
