There's this sort of campaign in the 80s 90s 2000s to shift honors in the direction of the voluntary sector and away from civil servants bureaucrats. And it did strike me that you know I'm going to use the sort of loaded word right it struck me as in line with kind of neoliberalism, which is a mindset that the state shouldn't tackle social problems directly through state action. It should operate through the market the private sphere, and it should use sort of market incentives right. But because honors have hierarchies and because it remains a pyramid.
