Sleep and Alzheimer's and Dementia

Night of sleep has been shown to hugely enhance our ability to solve problems. At night we're clearing toxins from the body and things like beta amyloid, perhaps it's the cause of Alzheimer's and dementia. In fact one night of no sleep has shown that you can actually detect higher levels of beta amyloids within the brain. And that could be the cause. We can't say for sure why severely disrupted sleep in the middle years is a risk factor for Alzheimer's and dementia later in life.
