Lingthusiasm - A podcast that's enthusiastic about linguistics

The analogy that I've seen is that Tokyo Japanese compared to Okinawa, which is a Ryukyuan language, is more different than English to German in terms of comprehensibility. But what's really interesting is that Okinawa, as the largest of these varieties, has so much more visibility than some of the others. So it goes all the way down. It's fractal. There's one major language in the country. And then even within the more minoritized languages, there's one of those that takes up more of the oxygen.
