The case invokes Guyana's constitutional right to a healthy environment. In essence, it says that when you burn fossil fuels, they emit greenhouse gases. And those greenhouse gases cause global warming which results in the breakdown of the climate system. The ocean is already under stress because it's becoming warmer as a result of increasing global temperatures.
